Machinery of justice faces profound change

Joshua Rozenburg reports on changes being introduced by the Lord Chief Justice which include acknowledgement of the potential benefits in creating an online court to decide cases worth up to £25,000. It isn't so much a matter of if this becomes a reality but when, the impact on the legal profession could be profound with smaller matters being handled without a lawyer needing to be involved at any stage. Microsoft starts downloading Windows 10 automatically through Windows Update

If you have Windows 7 or Windows 8, be prepared to see a large chunk your disk space disappear as Microsoft downloads the Windows 10 upgrade onto your computer - whether you want it or not. Windows 10 is actually a worthwhile upgrade but before you click that OK button you may want to read our upgrade do's and don'ts.  (Guardian)

Lincolnshire County Council shut down all of its computers after ransomware attack

This particularly nasty type of attack sees your files encrypted and a ransom demanded for their release. The attack targets every file it can find, which means if you have shared network files these will be also encrypted potentially crippling an entire organisation. (The Register)
