When you surf the web using a web browser your browser keeps a temporary copy of the items downloaded so that the next time you visit the same site it doesn't need to download these items again speeding up your browsing session.

However you may encounter script errors when returning to a site and this happens when the scripts on the web site have been updated but not been downloaded as it looks, to the browser, like they are already on your device.

To fix this we can clear the browser cache of these temporary files so that the next time you visit the site the browser will download up to date versions of the scripts and the errors shouldn't appear.

Clearing your Internet Explorer browser cache

Your browser cache contains various types of information, when dealing with script errors we only need to concentrate on temporary files. So to clear your browser cache:

  1. Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL together or click the Cog (top right of the Internet Explorer window) and  choose Safety from the menu that appears and then click "Delete browsing history...".
  2. The following screen is shown with the options for what is to be deleted.

  3. Ensure Preserve Favorites website data and Temporary Internet files and website files are checked and everything else unchecked.
  4. Click the Delete button.
  5. After a few moments a ribbon will show along the bottom of the Internet Explorer window to report that the files have been deleted.
  6. Close and restart Internet Explorer and try the affected site again.

If you are still getting script errors or the errors return within a few days, repeat the procedure above but this time uncheck the Preserve Favorites website data option.
